Located high above the beautiful coast of Western Asturias, within a short drive of the picturesque ports of Cudillero and Luarca, Teixidiello is a long abandoned hillside village brought back to life! Restored to its original charm, El Teixu is a stone cottage overlooking both the countryside and sea. You will feel among the privileged few to find such a hidden gem. Access from the closest village of San Martin de Luiña is via a beautiful winding track through the forest, ensuring constant peace and tranquillity.
We have in this hamlet other houses for two or three people, we can also rent, wiew photos.
Teixidiello, a place where there is no asphalt.: While the drive up from the village of San Martin de Luiña may seem long at first, what you find upon arrival is well worth the effort; peace and quiet, waterfalls and brooks, forests, birds and the sound of cowbells across the valley. All this from the comfort of El Teixu, a house stone with all the amenities of home. On the ground floor is the living area with its kitchen, dining area to sit in front of the fireplace. Dine inside or out on the stone patio. The spacious bedroom has en-suite bathroom complete with a shower massage cabin with spring water. The bedroom has spectacular views. Upstairs is one bedroom with two beds. The owners have thought of everything to ensure your comfort and they are available should you need something they missed. The fireplace warms the entire house easily in cold weather and solar panels provide abundant hot water.

Teixidiello, hamlet ´braña vaqueira marina´: Teixidiello is a higland village once inhabited by ‘Los Vaqueiros’, emblematic cattle herders who abandoned their mountain homes in the 60’s to work in the rising industrial areas. Time has left this hamlet unspoilt and the possibilities for walking, birdwatching or wildlife photography are endless. For the restless, just 7Kms downhill begins civilization and the wealth of bars, restaurants, shopping and summer activities available on the coast.

‘We have lovingly restored this hamlet in a very special and beautiful place and hope you will have the opportunity to enjoy it.’ Ana

Teixidiello, all natural: In the countryside, surrounded by woods no chemicals are used in the gardens of Teixidiello. Pure air, peace and tranquility are assured. Fruits, aromatic plants and herbs are all grown organically, cotton bedding.

  3. Should have stayed here twice as long!

Yes, the cottage is a bit of a trek up a dirt road, but how else can you be where the only sounds are the wind in the trees and cowbells tinkling off the opposite hillside. The view across those hills to the ocean is breathtaking. And, you are not really so far from the rest of the world, just insulated from it. There is lovely beach and charming seaside villages only 15-20 minutes away. Anna and Max are friendly and accomodating and allow their guests privacy while still being available for questions. There are some beautiful walks right from the cottage.

Another reviewer questioned the listing of 2 bedrooms so i will clarify. There is a loft above the living area (reached by a ladder that is almost stairs and the other sleeping area is off the living area with a curtain separating. My kids (10 and 14) were easily able to scramble up and down to the loft but I would have been nervous with very small children. If you need two bedrooms with doors that close and little sound transmission then this is not the place for you. Overall, the cottage is very comfortable and nicely updated.

This is one of the most peaceful places we’ve ever stayed! If you need a break from your hectic life, it can’t be beat.

We were absolutely charmed by our restored shepherds’ house – it was full of character, attractively furnished and really quite spacious. The setting was superb: peaceful and with a breathtaking view down to the sea; it meant our stay combined the best of both being in the hills and enjoying the delights of the coast. It was lovely to stay somewhere our hosts had put so much effort into creating – both in comfort terms and in the attractive and unspoilt look of the houses. The drive up to the ‘village’ on the unmade road was only really a surprise the first time and became completely normal and straightforward every day after that.
